چکیده

In this paper, we seek to evaluate the performance of a 60 GHz WLAN system taking into account RF circuitry imperfections and hardware requirements for various modulation techniques. A model of an RF frontend is developed, including physical imperfections of the circuitry such as power amplifier (PA) nonlinearity and voltage controlled oscillator VCO phase noise. Given the RF front-end model, several modulation techniques such as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) are considered. The evaluation of the system performance in terms of bit error rate allows a better understanding of physical circuitry limitations, and optimal modulation parameters as well as circuit design recommendations can be derived.

An Integrated 17 GHz Front-End for ISM/WLAN Applications in 0.13 μm CMOS

This paper presents an integrated front-end for ISM/WLAN applications at 17.3 GHz in 0.13 μm standard CMOS. The front-end chip includes an inductive source-degenerated low noise amplifier (LNA), a transformer-based Gilbert-mixer, an intermediate frequency (IF) amplifier and a buffer for the local oscillator (LO) input. The integrated receiver front-end achieves a gain of 34.7 dB, a SSB noise fi...

Compact Dual-band Slot Antenna for 2.4/5 Ghz Wlan Applications

This paper presents a compact dual-band slot antenna for 2.4/5 GHz WLAN applications. The radiating elements of the proposed antenna are composed of a square ring slot and a circular ring slot, operating at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands respectively. The antenna size is very compact (40 mm × 40 mm × 1 mm), and can be integrated easily with other RF front-end circuits. It is demonstrated that the prop...
